Whale Watching in Hjalteyri

4 reviews | 79 travellers
A cool experience. We enjoyed the boat (much better than the noisy zodiacs), the spectacular views enhanced by a calm and reflective sea, the guide, Bethlehem, very professional and personable ... And above all: we saw whales.

Whale Watching in Hjalteyri

We'll meet at the agreed time at the port in Hjalteyri (just a 15-minute drive from Akureyri). This is a small fishing village with a population of just 43 inhabitants! Once there, you'll climb onboard a traditional Icelandic oak boat ready to set sail.

When we're far enough away from the coast, you'll be able to start enjoying this amazing experience. There is nothing quite like seeing whales in their natural environment and the turquoise waters of Eyjafjörður are the perfect setting for these marine creatures.

While you watch the giant animals in awe, our expert guide will explain more about them, so not only will you see them swim and jump, but you'll also understand why they behave the way they do.

Plus, while you sail around, we'll also give you a mug of hot chocolate and some traditional cinnamon rolls. It's the perfect way to stay warm.

After this once-in-a-lifetime whale watching experience, we'll sail back to the port in Hjalteyri.
