Join us and discover the geothermal area of Hengill from a totally unique perspective on this helicopter tour from Reykjavik.

Helicopter Hot Springs tour

Our adventure starts at the designated time at Reykjavik Airport, where we'll board a helicopter and head to the geothermal area of Hengill.

Bit by bit, we'll see how the colourful houses in the capital get smaller below our feet. Additionally, we'll see some of the most iconic sites of Reykjavik, such as the majestic Hallgrimskirkja Church and the Harpa Concert Hall.

In the distance, we'll start to see the geothermal area of Hengill, which covers an area of 100 kilometres squared (38.6 square miles) and is one of the largest geothermal areas in Iceland, connected to 3 volcanic systems.

Did you know the last volcanic eruption in Hengill occurred more than 2000 years ago? From the helicopter, you'll enjoy the vents and thermal fountains that are scattered all over the area. This is all proof that the volcano remains active.

Once we've flown over this area, we'll land at a safe spot, and here you'll have the opportunity to explore the old lava fields and small craters by foot. You'll see how boiling water comes from below the surface and the curious colour of gas that seeps through the ground. It'll feel like you're on another planet!

After visiting the geothermal area in Hengill on foot, we'll return to the helicopter and head back to the starting point. We'll fly over majestic mountains, picturesque valleys and other lava fields.

We'll end this tour landing at the airport in Reykjavik after an hour.
