Kerlingarföll Highlands Tour
Tour Highlights
At the indicated time, we'll meet at 10 Skógarhlíð Street in Reykjavík and drive to the Kerlingarföll Highlands, one of the most fascinating places in Iceland!
On the way to the highlands, we'll stop at Gullfoss, a beautiful waterfall located in the canyon of the Hvitá River. Once at the Base of the Highlands, we'll prepare for an exciting excursion. It's nestled in the cove of Ásgarður, right on the edge of Kerlingarfjöll.
We'll drive to Hveradalir and, from there, head to the hot springs and colorful rock formations in the area. Hveradalir, which means “the valley of hot springs”, is one of the largest geothermal valleys in Iceland. Some powerful natural hot springs should be observed from a safe distance.
The valley is surrounded by picturesque rhyolite mountains that are part of the Kerlingarfjöll mountain range. Here, we'll embark on a 2-kilometer (1.2 mi) hiking route with a difference in altitude of 500 meters (1,640 ft). After this hike, you can have lunch in a local restaurant or enjoy the food you brought with you.
We'll then head to the Kerlingarfjöll Highland Baths, where you can take a dip. After a full day of hiking and adventure, from Kerlingarfjöll we'll return to Reykjavík. On the way back, we'll stop at Geysir, one of the most impressive geysers in the world.
Finally, we'll conclude this 12-hour activity by returning to your hotel in Reykjavik.
