Snaefellsnes Day Trip

At 9 am we'll pick you up from your selected meeting point in Reykjavik and set off on a journey across the Snaefellsnes peninsula, heading into the spectacular Snæfellsjökull glacier, located on an active stratovolcano. Did you know that the snow-capped summit can be seen from the bay of the Icelandic capital?

On the way, we'll admire the impressive landscapes that feature in Jules Verne's novel "Journey to the Centre of the Earth". Discover waterfalls, lakes and rivers leading to basalt cliffs, tiny fishing villages and black sand beaches.

Our route will continue on to Ytri Tunga Beach and Lýsuhóll. At Ytri Tunga Beach, we'll have the opportunity to see the seal colony which inhabits the area (most visible in summer). Then we'll enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch at the Lýsuhóll farm before visiting the stables at Lýsuhóll Farm where the famous Icelandic horses are kept.

In the afternoon, we'll make our way to the black church of Buðir and drive along the coastline to see the charming rural town of Arnarstapi, the fishing village of Hellnar and Djúpalónssandur, a beautiful black beach where we'll enjoy a stunning view of the Icelantic coastline. Do you know the history of the shipwreck that occurred here in 1948?

We'll continue visiting beautiful Icelandic spots such as the Saxhóll crater, after which we'll head to Kirkjufell. This magnificent mountain and the waterfall at its foot is said to be the most photographed mountain in Iceland, and it was also a filming location in the "Game of Thrones" series. Nearby are the fishing villages Grunðarfjorður and Ólafsvík, which are home to a large colony of killer whales and seals.

Our last stop will be at Leynifoss, the "Sheep Waterfall", where we'll see Selvallavatn lake and the enormous lava field next to it. At the end of our unforgettable adventure across lava fields and gorges, we'll make our way back to Reykjavik, arriving by around 8 pm.
